Stewed Apple Recipe

Stewed fruit is an Ayurvedic staple.



Fruit becomes much easier to digest after it is cooked. Apples, in particular, are light and stimulating.

They increase vitality, alertness, and help stimulate regular bowel movements. Apples provide a super gentle meal to start the day with. Since they are light, enjoy a bowl of warm oatmeal with it for a more substantial breakfast.

 

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp of ghee or coconut oil

  • 1/2 tsp each of cinnamon/cloves, cardamom and ginger

  • 1 ripe sweet apple, sliced 

  • 1/4 cup of water

Steps

Heat ghee/oil and spices until you smell their aroma. Then, add apple slices and water. Let it simmer for 10 minutes or until soft.
