ayuveda and you

Step into your unique nature

Ayurveda assesses individual constitutions by understanding each person’s unique set of characteristics.

When we understand our personal and completely unique nature, we can choose specific diet and lifestyle practices helping us to maintain our inner state of balance.

Prakruti:
your nature at birth

At the time of conception, our nature is created and our DNA or genetic code is formed. In Ayurveda, we refer to our nature and constitution at birth as our “Prakruti”. Our nature is ultimately determined by our parents’ nature. Our mother’s emotional and physical state, the season, the location of our birthplace and our Karma are some of the key factors that form our unique constitutions.

Ayurveda aligns your Prakruti and Vikruti

Vikruti:
the current state of your health

Once we gain insight into our basic nature we can then understand and better connect to our imbalances. We refer to someone’s current state of health as their Vikruti and this essentially translates into “deviation from their nature” by understanding our unique mind-body-spirit makeup through the lens of Ayurveda we can bring ourselves back to our nature and into perfect health. Remember, balance is not about “all things being equal.” Instead, it is a state of equilibrium where your current state of health matches your own unique natural mind-body-spirit makeup.

Just as each new day consists of different qualities, we also have these same forces acting on our well-being. What’s important to remember is that Ayurveda teaches us how to live in accordance with the natural world, the seasons, and our various cycles of life. The goal is not to get to a balanced state and remain there because each day is different from one to the next.

When we learn how to go with this flow of life, we feel relaxed, healthy, and vibrant.
